Tyla & Jamie’s Pink and Personal Quorn Grange Hotel Wedding
| LEICESTERSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
There are some weddings where you walk in and immediately know that every little detail has been chosen because it means something to the couple.
Tyla and Jamie’s wedding at Quorn Grange Hotel in Loughborough was exactly that.
Think pink details, skulls, plenty of personality and one of the most meaningful little touches of the whole day: a reserved seat for Tyla’s nan, Kathleen.
A wedding with personality
Tyla and Jamie didn’t go down the traditional route of trying to make their wedding look like everyone else’s.
Pink was everywhere, bringing a fun, romantic feel to the day, while the skull details added something a little darker and much more personal. And honestly, I loved it.
That mix of pretty and alternative worked so well together and made the whole day feel individual rather than styled for the sake of it.
This is one of my favourite things about photographing weddings. Your day doesn’t need to fit into one particular box. You can have soft pink details alongside skulls. Romantic moments alongside ridiculous amounts of laughter. Emotional moments alongside a packed dancefloor.
You can just make it yours.
A seat reserved for Kathleen
One of the details that really stayed with me was the reserved seat for Tyla’s nan, Kathleen.
She wasn’t physically there to celebrate with them, but she was still very much part of the day.
As the bridal party reached the reserved seat, white rose stems were placed into a vase. It was such a simple and beautiful gesture, but it carried so much meaning. Each stem became a quiet tribute to Kathleen, allowing her to be remembered and included as the ceremony unfolded.
Leaving a seat for someone you wish could be there is such a meaningful gesture. It gave Tyla and Jamie a little space to remember Kathleen and acknowledge that, even when someone is missing, they can still be a huge part of your wedding story.
These are the details I love photographing.
Not just the flowers or the rings, but the things that tell you who these people are and who matters to them.
Quorn Grange Hotel, Loughborough
Quorn Grange Hotel provided the backdrop for the day, with its characterful setting giving Tyla and Jamie plenty of opportunities for photographs without taking them away from their guests for hours.
For me, wedding photography isn’t about disappearing the couple off for a massive chunk of the day to create a gallery of perfectly posed photographs.
It’s about letting you enjoy your wedding.
I’ll guide you when you need it, give you a few prompts to create those gorgeous editorial portraits, and then get back into the background to capture everything else happening around you.
The hugs.
The happy tears.
The people who haven’t seen each other for years.
The ridiculous dance moves.
The little glances between you.
And all the things you probably didn’t even realise were happening.
The moments you’ll remember
Looking back at Tyla and Jamie’s wedding, it’s the combination of all those little moments that makes the gallery feel like their story.
The pink.
The skulls.
The people they love.
The laughter.
The emotion.
The white roses placed in memory of Kathleen.
And that little reserved seat for her.
Because that’s what I want your wedding photographs to do.
Not just show you what your wedding looked like, but take you straight back to how it felt to be there and wish you could do it all over again.
