A DREAMY SUMMER WEDDING AT SANDHOLE OAK BARN | CHESHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
SUNDAY AT SANDHOLE OAK BARN WAS ONE OF THOSE WEDDINGS WHERE EVERYTHING JUST SEEMED TO FALL INTO PLACE.
PERFECT WEATHER, GORGEOUS LIGHT, A BRILLIANT BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND PLENTY OF MOMENTS THAT DEFINITELY WEREN’T ON THE WEDDING DAY ITINERARY.
AND HONESTLY, THOSE ARE MY FAVOURITE KIND OF WEDDINGS.
A Relaxed wedding morning
The morning started with all the usual wedding morning chaos, makeup touch-ups, dresses waiting for their big moment, glasses of fizz, and that slightly surreal feeling of, “Oh my god, we’re actually getting married today.”
There were laughs, nerves, plenty happening all at once, and lots of those little in-between moments that make getting ready such a big part of the story.
I’m not really there to turn those moments into a photoshoot.
I’m there to notice them.
Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography
Sandhole Oak Barn is one of those Cheshire wedding venues that gives you the best of both worlds.
Beautiful spaces and scenery for your portraits, but plenty happening around you for the candid photographs too. And that’s where I love to be.
Amongst your guests, watching the chaos unfold and picking up on the moments you might otherwise miss.
My style is candid wedding photography with an editorial twist.
So yes, I’ll give you some direction when you want it, but I’m not going to spend your wedding day constantly pulling you away from everyone else.
You can actually enjoy your wedding.
Revolutionary, I know.
The Missing Wedding Ring Saga
Now, this is where things got interesting....
One of my favourite sets of photographs from the day involved a group of guests gathered around the lake. It looks rather lovely.
What you can’t see is that the groom had lost his wedding ring.
Thankfully, a child found it and was cash rewarded accordingly.
And because apparently one missing ring wasn’t enough excitement for one wedding, the groom’s brother had also lost his earlier that morning while getting ready.
So if you see a group of people staring into the bushes in the photographs below…
That’s why.
And this is exactly why I love photographing weddings as they actually happen.
Because years from now, those photographs won’t just be “a nice photo by the lake.”
They’ll bring back the whole story.
Then Came the Dance Floor....
After the beautiful bits came the inevitable chaos.
The kind of dance floor where nobody is particularly interested in looking at the camera and everyone is far too busy having a brilliant time and that’s exactly how it should be.
I’m looking for the big moments, but also everything happening around them.
The hugs, the ridiculous dancing, the people catching up, the tears, the laughter.
All the little interactions that make your wedding completely yours.
